First minted in 1997, these are the official platinum bullion coins of the United States. The obverse features Lady Liberty looking into the future and each year the design on the reverse side changes. These coins are the only U.S. bullion coins that do so. American Platinum Eagle coins are also considered a commodity rather than a rare coin, which means that the US Mint feels that their value will never go beyond the market price. As such, they may be used or held in some government sponsored retirement plans.

The Republic of China’s Panda series was one of the most successful bullion coins of the 1980′s. Response in the U.S. to these warm and fuzzy little panda images was very positive, and the concept of a premium-priced bullion coin was established. The Chinese were able to build a steady demand for them regardless of the market price of gold by changing the design every year. Gold Pandas are not only used as bullion; they are often also set in jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets.

Pandas are issued by China at a higher percentage over the actual gold price than standard bullion coins, and pioneered the idea of a modern collectible/bullion coin. They were first issued in 1982 and by 1987 collector interest was so high that some of the one ounce 1982 Pandas traded for over $3,000.

Austrian Gold Philharmonics were first produced in 1989. In 1992, 1995, and 1996 the Austrian Mint boasted that the Austrian Gold Philharmonic was the best selling gold bullion coin in the world. This is not wholly surprising given the beautiful artwork on both sides. Philharmonics were designed to honor one of the world’s great orchestras: the Vienna Philharmonic, which has been a part of the Austrian national identity since its inception in 1842. The obverse depicts the great organ in the Golden Hall in Vienna’s Musikverein Concert Hall, the home of the Vienna Philharmonic. Also stamped on the obverse is the face value 2000 Schillings, year of mintage, purity (.9999 fine), and weight.

The Australian Gold Nugget coin is one of the most popular coins created by the Perth Mint in Western Australia. Perhaps the most diverse of any nation’s bullion coinage, the Gold Australian Nugget is minted in eight different sizes from 1/20th of an ounce all the way up to 1-kilogram.
Design The obverse of the coin features a profile view of the face of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Ian Rank Broadley. She is surrounded by her name, the denomination of the coin, and the word “AUSTRALIA”.

The design on the reverse originally depicted natural Australian gold nuggets (example right), with different designs for various sizes. The design theme changed in 1989 to feature the most recognizable animal in Australia, the kangaroo (example above). For this reason, the coin is referred to both as an Australian “Nugget” and “Kangaroo”.

The Australian Gold Nugget / Kangaroo is currently the only legal tender, pure gold bullion coin to change its design each year and limit its mintage annually. Each size from 1/20th-oz. to 1-oz. receives a new design each year. New designs are introduced each year to the proof coins and these designs are then used for striking the bullion coins the following year.

America now has the first 24-Karat solid gold bullion coin from the United States Mint.

With gold prices consistently increasing over the last 5 years, gold is certainly a brilliant investment. Now it shines even brighter. With the introduction of the new American Buffalo 24-karat gold coin, investors now have access to gold bullion coins that each contain one troy ounce of the purest gold available in any bullion coin on the market. These incredible coins manufactured at West Point by the U.S. Mint can be purchased here at GoldCoinsGain.com

Now is the time to acquire not only gold bullion coins but the highest quality gold bullion coin – the 24-Karat American Buffalo Coin.

For years, you only had the option of purchasing 22-karat gold when buying American gold bullion coins. Because 24-karat gold is softer, it was seen as undesirable to create a bullion coin that could be easily damaged when circulated even though we haven’t used gold coins in transactions since the 1930’s. American gold coins have always had copper and silver mixed in for durability. Because of stiff competition in the gold investing world Congress authorized the production of the American Buffalo in order to compete with Canadian gold bullion coins and gold bullion coins produced by other nations. GoldCoinsGain.com is pleased and honored to be an authorized seller of the new American Buffalo 24-karat gold coin.

The design of the American Buffalo gold coin has the profile of a Native American chief on the obverse side and a buffalo on the reverse. The American sculptor James Earle Fraser is responsible for this gold bullion coin’s design. Each beautiful and profitable American coin is inscribed with .9999 Fine Gold, 1 OZ, Liberty, In God We Trust and E Pluribus Unum.

The American Gold Buffalo also has a U.S. government guarantee.

Investors that buy American Buffalo 24-Karat Gold Bullion coins, buy the coins whose weight, content and purity are guaranteed by the U.S. government. This makes them not only recognized as America’s official investment-grade gold bullion coin, but also the most profitable and secure way to participate in the gold bullion market.

Design
The Krugerrand’s obverse, designed by O. Schultz, features the first President of the South African Republic, Paul Kruger. Due to Kruger’s relationship with Apartheid, these coins are the least expensive of all the major gold bullion coins. Kruger is surrounded by the name of his nation in Afrikaans and English, two of South Africa’s eleven official languages: “SUID-AFRIKA · SOUTH AFRICA”.

A springbok (a South African antelope) prances across the reverse, as designed by C.L. Steynberg. This side also lists the date of issue and the amount and purity of the gold. Interestingly, the Krugerrand does not carry a face value, as it is primarily minted for trading outside South Africa.

Minting Information
Each Krugerrand is minted using approximately 91 2/3 parts gold and 8 1/3 parts copper. The Mint is never at a loss for gold as South Africa is the world’s biggest producer of the yellow metal. The official South African Mint has undergone many changes over the years and was privatized in 1988. The South African Mint Company (Pty) Ltd. was established that year as a full subsidiary of the SA Reserve Bank.

First introduced in 1986, U.S. Gold Eagles are the #1 gold bullion coin choice among investors across the world.

Design After careful consideration, the United States mint decided to copy the design of the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin for the obverse of its new Gold Eagle. The $20 Saint-Gaudens was commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt to create coins of awe like the ancient Greek and Roman coins. The date, situated to the viewer’s right of Miss Liberty, appears in Roman Numerals in the years from 1986-91 it has appeared in Arabic Numerals ever since.

The design on the reverse by Miley Busiek captures a bald eagle swooping into a nest holding its family. The scene is meant to symbolize many classic American concepts.

Minting InformationGold Eagles are made only from gold mined in the United States. The coins are minted using 24-karat gold plus small amounts of alloy to ensure a minimum of scratching and marring; the result is a 22-karat overall composition. Each one-ounce Gold Eagle contains one full ounce of pure gold.

Government GuaranteeGold Eagles maintain a unique advantage over most other gold bullion coins – the United States government guarantees their gold content, weight, and purity. For this reason, gold eagles can easily be bought and sold almost anywhere in the world, making these coins among the most commonly traded gold bullion coins on the market.
